Check Out Our Write-Up!

Last week, when we served a meal at Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach, a UNL student filmed the event and conducted several interviews with the adults and students who were there to volunteer.  I learned today that her project is finished, and we think she did a great job capturing the essence of the work that volunteers do there on a daily basis.

You can click here to see her project, which includes pictures and interviews from that day.  We are featured under the "Buying and Preparing" and the "Serving and Consuming" headers.

Giving Tuesday

In continuing to work with our Me to We theme, we celebrated Giving Tuesday by preparing and serving a meal at Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach here in Lincoln.

Tonight's menu:

Tacos!  And beans, salad, fruit, and cookies.

Our students worked very hard to get all the food prepared:

After about an hour of prep work, we were ready to serve!

But we also found some time to sneak in some bites of cookies, which were made by Mrs. Rhoades and the 8th grade FCS classes.

After everyone got their meals (and seconds!), it was time to clean up!

While we were there, a UNL journalism student was making a documentary about what it takes to serve a meal at Matt Talbot, so she filmed all of the work we did tonight.  A few of our students were asked to speak about their experiences!

These students were champs tonight, serving 149 meals to people-in-need.  We are so proud of their hard work!
